Richard S. Cohen, SPPA, Chief Executive Officer
Richard S. Cohen, SPPA is an owner of the professional claims consulting firm of Clarke & Cohen, Inc. Richard is a third generation public adjuster and has been licensed since 1988. He has had extensive experience with a variety of property claims for clients including; Colleges & Universities; International, National, Regional and Local Property owners; Retail and Residential Developers; Franchise, Hospitality, Healthcare, Technology and Retail Business owners. During his career, he has handled thousands of property claims including one of the largest homeowners claims in Pennsylvania. His experience includes work throughout the United States and Europe as well as extensive disaster response experience during Hurricane, Earthquake and Wildfire recoveries.
Richard holds the designation of Senior Professional Public Adjuster (SPPA) – a designation overseen by the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA). The SPPA designation requires the candidate to take an extensive written exam and to have a minimum of 10 years experience adjusting claims. In addition, fifteen (15) credits of continuing education per year must be completed to maintain this designation.
Richard is a Past President of The National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA). He was also an officer of NAPIA from 1997-2004, and spent the three previous years on the board of directors. Cohen also served as the president of the Pennsylvania Association of Public Insurance Adjusters. He is also a member of the New York and New Jersey Association of Public Insurance Adjusters. He currently holds licenses in California, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Wyoming and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Richard received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing/Business from the Pennsylvania State University. He is also active in the community. He is a member and former President of the Philadelphia Board of Directors of the Jewish National Fund. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Main Line Reform Temple where he also chaired the Budget and Finance Committee and the Grounds and Maintenance Committee. He was also a member of the Board of the Garces Foundation and the Philadelphia Burger Brawl. As a result of his entrepreneurial spirit, he has also invested in and managed companies in Real Estate Development, Childcare and Hospitality. Richard resides in Center City Philadelphia with his wife, Wendy.
